Korizza, I's a good idea to practise your English speaking with English speaking people on forums, social networks or even better use ICQ or Skype in this case you can practise your oral speech. By the way I've got one more web pal in ICQ. He's Chinese. First he started to write me in Chinese. I don't know why because I don't know Chinese and only French and English are metioned in my ICQ profile. So then we switched into English though his English is really poor. But the main thing is that he is not afraid to use English. That's the first step in mastering a foreign language.
Barbie79, I've read the whole topic and I've got to say: I like your English a lot!) It is definately the best of all in this forum. Not a single mistake.. Brilliant! It's too bad the topic is forgotten..The girls who wanted to learn, where have you gone?
I advise you to watch tv shows or films in English. That's an excellent way not only to recall what you've learned, but also to learn new words and what is more important - expressions and sentence constructions. I would strongly recommend 'Friends' episodes. I've watched them 3 or 4 times, the whole 10 seasons. That helped a lot. And the show's reeealy fun) You can watch it with subtitles if they're speaking too fast for you to comprehend. As for me, subtitles are too irritating, so I found the script of each episode. Is anyone watching something in English? Would you mind sharing with us?
Hey girls! Here i am :) Your English is excellent! It's a good idea to watch films with subtitles. It's winter, the weather is getting colder and I'm dreaming to lie on the sofa so that no one can disturbe me and enjoy listening to the sounds of this great language. What other films would you recommend to watch that can help to improve our English listening skills?
Kulishi4ek, I looove Gossip Girl, especially the first seasons. I think the fifth is a little bit dull. Lilliya, ...well..I don't know. I can only advice you some TV series that I find both interesting and not very difficult to understand. So, here's my list: -Charmed (also called 'All the Women are Witches') - for girls who like magic, spells, and demonic stuff. reminds me of my childhood) - Dexter (about a serial killer) -Gossip Girl (Certainly!) -Glee (a musical series about high school, students, their life, problems, love etc) - for those who are deeply interested in music and is not irritated with songs in the middle of the film -Scrubs (about interns in a hospital, really hilarious) -Lost.... but the best is definately Friends, because it is a mixture of simle understandable language, great jokes and expressions of american English, fun plot, interesting and well played characters...Wow, it turns out I'm a huge fan)
arc en ciel, Thanks your English is great as well. I agree that watching TV series is the easiest way to practise your listening skills. The language there is much easier than in movies. As well you may watch documentaries or news. The language there is rather clear and distinct and so is easy to understand. Because speakers, reporters and narrators are taught to speak distinctly and accurately. As for improving the speaking skills it`s a good idea to use English when you travel abroad. When you get into a situation when nobody understands a word of your native language, you get basic speaking skills very soon. I lived abroad for several years, so what I've written is from my own experience and it really works.
Lost.... but the best is definately Friends, because it is a mixture of simle understandable language, great jokes and expressions of american English
I agree completely. I will try improve my lack of English.
